Protect your skis & snowboards from our hot California summers! We're already in the triple digits and what little snow we had is long gone. That does not mean your gear should suffer! Take some time to prep your skis and boards so that they'll be in tip top condition for next season! 

Step 1: Clean Your Board
Some water and elbow grease is all you need for this part. Make sure all the dirt, salt, road gunk (or what ever) is out from under your bindings and the base of your planks. For skiiers you want to make sure to keep the water from going inside the bindings and don't use degreasers or detergents as it may mess with the binding lubricant. 

Step 2: Check Your Edges
Before you let your board sit out it's smart to check for and smooth out the burrs to reduce the chances of rust. If you wait until December to take your board in it's almost guaranteed that you'll be in a long line of the unprepared and that last minute trip may be hindered! 

Step 3: Storage Wax
A storage wax is a thick wax applied to protect your base and edges to protect your board & skis from hot air and moisture. This layer keeps your base from drying out and stops rust from corroding your edges. 

Step 4: Das Boot(s)
Don't forget to pull those stinky sweaty liners out of your boots and make sure they're dry. Buckle & lace everything up lightly so that everything stays in shape. This is also the perfect time to look over the heels and toes of your ski boots as well as the laces in your snowboard boots. Replace them if they're worn and you'll be ready at the first sign of snow! 

Step 5: Keep Eye Out For Next Snow Report!

 You can prep your boards for storage at home or bring it all into Ken's! We will thoroughly clean your gear to remove any dirt that has been ground in, properly apply a thick layer of storage wax, and when the time comes next year we will re-melt and scrape off all the excess wax for FREE! You will be ready to rip in a heartbeat! Extend the life of your gear and be prepped and ready for the next snowfall.
