Why Get My Planks Edged?

Overtime the metal edges on your planks will begin to get rough. Dull edges prevent you from holding an edge effectively on the snow, particularly in harder snow and icy conditions.  In these conditions it is critical to have a very sharp edge that will be able to cut through and dig into the ice to give you the edge hold necessary to carve out some turns on hard pack and ice. It is even more critical for aggressive riders that prefer higher speeds to have sharp edges to ensure edge hold when carving through hard pack at high speeds.  Rough, or burred edges, can make the edge hold feel less smooth and at times even grabby. If you run your nail along the metal edge of your gear it should be smooth to the touch and sharp enough to scrape your nail. If it isn’t, it’s time to bring it in!
